Women’s Peace Network
About
Location: Myanmar
Key(s): Peace and Security
Founded in 2013 by Wai Wai Nu, the Women’s Peace Network (WPN) is composed of lawyers, community leaders, and peace activists from Myanmar and around the globe who share a common goal: peacefully promote and protect human rights.
WPN operates in three main fields: human rights, peacebuilding, and youth development. Their human rights activities engage, empower and advocate for the rights of marginalized women and communities across Myanmar and in refugee camps in Bangladesh through documentation and advocacy.
WPN believes that women and youth are the catalysts for social change. Since its creation, WPN has been conducting training on peacebuilding, anti-discrimination, leadership, civic and political education, women’s rights and international human rights law at the local level.
Mission: To protect the rights, enhance the status, and increase the inclusion of marginalized women, youth, and communities in the Rakhine state and across Myanmar, so that they can live peacefully and prosperously.
Vision: To ensure that Myanmar is a place where all people can enjoy peace, justice, and prosperity and live together harmoniously.
